5 Reasons Why Buying my Botanical Lino Prints is a Great Idea

What comes to mind when you hear the word ‘print’?

Maybe you’re thinking of the many wall decorations and art prints that you can easily buy in almost all home décor shops and online. You probably won’t associate it with an original piece of artwork. But don’t worry you are not alone because unfortunately we live in a world where so much is mass produced so It’s not surprising that people think this way.

So whether you are looking to buy some botanical inspired art for your home or looking for creative gifts for the plant lovers in your life, carry on reading to find out why I think buying an original art print and especially my original botanical lino prints is a fantastic idea

1 - It’s an Original Piece of Art

I often get told at events “I only buy original art”

Well that’s jolly good news as I only produce original art prints

Printmaking techniques such as lino prints, woodcut prints, screen prints, etchings and lithographs are all original art print methods and printmakers like me can spend many hours coming up with designs, creating and printing them. A lot of time and love can go into creating an original art print, just to get it right. In fact some of my Botanical Lino Prints have taken months to produce and are a true piece of art and I will often work on a few designs at a time

When an original art print or a painting is copied (usually through a photographic process) and then printed using a commercial process such as giclée, this it is a called reproduction and is not an original print or painting

2- It’s Unique

Most original art prints are created in limited editions of around 10 to 50 to a maximum of 250, numbered, titled and signed by the artist and due to the handmade nature in the way they are printed each one is unique in its own right

When creating my Botanical Reduction Lino Prints I often use a painterly method of applying my inks, using multiple colours on small rollers to create lots of layers and tonal effects to my work. This creates a varied edition. So even though the design is the same the colours and layers will be slightly different for each print and making each one a truly unique limited edition Lino print

Unfortunately I do know some artists who produce giclée prints will also edition, title and sign their prints and even though this isn’t necessarily wrong or a bad thing it can cause some confusion for the customer as some naughty artists don’t make it very clear that they are in fact reproductions. And I must admit I do find this very annoying. Don’t get me wrong I have no qualms about artists reproducing their work, I just wish it was made much clearer to the customer

So when buying from me I can 100% guarantee you will be getting an original handmade, handprinted Botanical Lino Print. The only reproductions I make are my Greeting Cards and this is clearly stated on each of the product pages

3- It’s an Affordable Way to Collect Art

Buying original art prints is a really great way of collecting art without breaking the bank and making it a really quick way of building up your very own gallery of art for your home. They also make great creative and unusual presents to give to any plant enthusiast

My Botanical Lino Prints prices start from £7.50 up to £180

4 - You Can’t Kill These Plants

Another thing I always hear and get told is “I can’t keep plants alive”

Well it really is your lucky day because I whole heartedly promise you cannot kill these beauties. In fact they are the most easiest plants you will ever have to look after.

There’s no watering involved, I highly discourage you from doing so. The only requirement is not to display them in direct sunlight as this may fade the colours on your lovely new purchase.

Just hang them on your wall and look on lovingly at your wonderful new Botanical Lino Print

5 - You’re Supporting Indie Businesses

By buying from me and others like me you’re helping to support small independent creative businesses and that just makes you a wonderful human being and it may even make you write lovely things about me like this happy customer
